Mike Robinson- The 69th Regiment in the Waterloo Campaign- through the eyes of two teenagers
We’re bound together by our fascination with the Waterloo campaign, and the human experience of those that were involved. Mike’s talk will take two little-known accounts to tell the story of the 69th Regiment: George Ainslie, at 18 years old, the junior Ensign whose introduction to war was being ridden over by French Cuirassiers at Quatre Bras; and Fanny Watson, the 16 year-old daughter of Major Lewis Watson, whom she nursed to health following his wounding at Waterloo. Mike is the author of the battle of Quatre Bras 1815 and will use these accounts and others to share the excitement, mysteries and frustrations of researching this most compelling of conflicts.
