The University of Southampton will be holding its Seventh Wellington Congress 12-14 April 2019.
Keynote speakers will include Professor Andrew Lambert, Professor Charles Esdaile, Dr Alicia Laspra and Dr Richard Gaunt. Proposals are invited for papers on all aspects of the career of the first Duke of Wellington, as well as the wider context in Britain, Ireland, the Empire and Continental Europe, between 1780 and the mid-nineteenth century.
Submissions may come from any discipline that focuses on this period. Proposals (up to 250 words) should
be submitted to Archives@soton.ac.uk by 1 October 2018. Conference papers should not exceed 30 minutes in length. Proposals for panel sessions will be considered.
The University’s Hartley Library is the home of the first Duke of Wellington’s archive, and the event will include opportunities to see the collection, as well as a programme of social activities.
