Waterloo Association trip to Waterloo 2016

Waterloo

In June 2016 the Waterloo Association ran a weekend trip to Waterloo looking at the campaign from the French perspective. Following the normal drinks reception at the Wellington Museum on the Friday evening Saturday saw 15 Association members visit Beaumont (Napoleon’s Headquarters on the night of 14th/15th June).

We then followed his route to Ligny where we visited the battlefield site (and shared drinks with Napoleon and his Imperial Guard at the annual re-enactment!). Having reviewed the wanderings of D’Erlon we then went on to Frasnes and Quatre Bras to look at the actions there. Sunday was spent at Mont St Jean but looking at the actions from the French perspective and visiting the various museums. Monday we visited Plancenoit and then made our way home.

We dined splendidly at Cote Vert, L’Hotel 1815 and L’Amusoir and had great accommodation at Hotel Ibis at Waterloo
